So this is a Braille keyboard and not a QWARTY? I neeed a QUARTY as I'm not
fast enough in Braille for that to work. Let me know, okay? Praying it will
work for Terry!

I found a combination of a cell phone, particularly an Apple which will be
pared up with a Braille keyboard called the smart beetle by Hims. The VA
Bros in Lee is going to see if someone from there could come down to
demonstrate it for us. This smart beetle is approximately 6 by 4 by 1 inch
and it is about a half a pound. I'm thinking that he should be able to hang
it on his belt and type from there with the speech coming out on the cell
phone. This would be only when he isn't at home. Please cross your fingers
that it would work.

So Bill, what kind of keyboard do you have for your iPhone? Joanne is going
to test such a keyboard as you suggested to see if it will be just fine for
Terry.

See you tomorrow in Tampa. Praying for safe travels for us all!

Blessings,

Kathy

Hi, Joanne.

I appreciated Kathy's response offering the Braille display option, but I
wonder if it's the long way around for a solution.

If for example you have an iPhone, a Bluetooth keyboard can be paired with
it so you can use text, email, social media or even the notes program.
Since the keyboard can be QWERTY, someone else could use it when in person
if need be by passing it back and forth.

Please help.
My husband is totally blind and has been for many years. Now he has a
speech problem and it is getting worse to the point that he can be hardly
understood.
I am looking for a portable unit that he can carry on communications with
people outside of a desktop.
