The Pinellas Braille Group began in 1957 when a dedicated group of people volunteered to learn Braille and to use these skills to translate books for the visually impaired of Pinellas County. Fifty plus years later this non-sectarian and non-profit group is still dedicated to fulfilling that need and has expanded to include audio recorded books and tactile graphics - recreations of maps, graphs, and pictures to be read by touch. The work they do now reaches beyond the borders of Pinellas County to the entire state and even to the Library of Congress.

Membership in the Pinellas Braille Group is open to any individuals interested in:

 Learning Braille and becoming Certified to translate books for the visually impaired.

 Learning audio-recording techniques used for recording books for the visually impaired.

 Learning techniques to turn pictures, maps, and graphs into tactile learning tools.

 Wishing to help further the goals of the PBG.

Classes form annually to learn Braille, audio-recording, and tactile graphics. If you would like to learn more about these classes, send an email to: Mary Klein <mailto:vlkrie at aol.com> vlkrie at aol.com

Annual membership in the Pinellas Braille Group is $10.00. To join, send a check to:
