Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI’s) provide an undeniably vital service in the education of blind and low vision students. An addition to the job for which they have been trained, these unsung heroes often go above and beyond the parameters of what is expected of a TVI, for example, taking on the role of assistive technology specialist, coordinating with district IT departments, working tirelessly with mainstream teachers on a wide variety of blindness related topics as well as teaching those coping skills needed to function in the classroom.  

The COVID-19 Coronavirus has literally changed the world in all facets of life including what options are available for the purposes of education. HIMS products such as the BrailleSense Polaris offers both online and offline tools that can serve to augment the education of students with visual impairment in this surreal and uncertain time.

On Thursday, March 26 from 7:00-8:00 PM central time in the U.S., HIMS will host a Zoom video meeting featuring the power of the BrailleSense Polaris as it may be used as a learning companion. This presentation will demonstrate how Polaris is used for the teaching of such subjects as braille, spelling, music, mathematics, and how it offers unparalleled and streamline access to Google Drive and Google Classroom.
