Civil Rights Program Specialist

Duties


Summary


This position is located in the  <http://civil%20rights%20division/> Civil
Rights Division's (Division)
<https://www.justice.gov/crt/disability-rights-section> Disability Rights
Section (DRS or Section). As the Civil Rights Program Specialist, you will
be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Department's
interagency coordination responsibilities under Title II of the ADA, Section
504, and Executive Order 12250.


Responsibilities


*	Providing technical assistance to an assigned group of federal
agencies on Section 504 and the ADA, and ensuring novel or other special
technical assistance matters are referred to appropriate managers or
attorney advisors for resolution;
*	Assisting attorney advisors in providing assistance to other
agencies in developing or amending regulations implementing Section 504 or
other statutes that affect disability rights;
*	Serving as the Section's expert on the organizational structure,
covered programs, enforcement activities, and other areas of the assigned
agencies;
*	Representing the Division in public conferences and meetings in
connection with the implementation of Section 504;
*	Providing disability rights training for the employees of other
agencies and assisting in preparation of training materials for use by other
Department officials;
*	Responding to inquiries from federal officials (including members of
Congress), or members of the public about issues relating to the Section's
activities with respect to all matters assigned;
*	Reviewing incoming citizen complaints and other correspondence
relating to federal matters outside the Department's jurisdiction and
identifying the appropriate federal agency for referral and follow-up as
needed;
*	Coordinating with the Civil Rights Division's Controlled
Correspondence Unit to review, assign, and track all correspondence relating
to the Section's work from members of Congress and the White House, as well
as to the Attorney General; and
*	Performing other related duties as assigned.
