[nfbmi-talk] student division question

Hello Dave,

I heard J.J. was elected as the Second-Vice President of the NFB of Michigan
during state convention. Since he is the one who is looking into the details
for this event, I do not see why there would be any problems with it
violating state affiliate policy. And while I still do not believe an event
hosted by the state student division necessarily needs approval from the
state affiliate President, there is no reason why the board could not
request to receive a report regarding the event.

As it currently stands, I believe this project is still in the investigation
and planning stage. I have not seen or heard of any motions to approve the
funds necessary to carry out this project by the state student division
board. If the state student division has the funds necessary to carry out
this event, and the state student division board approves of spending its
funds on this event, then I do not see any reason why it would need the
approval of the state affiliate President. After all, each local chapter
does not need to seek approval for every event they carry out as a chapter,
so I do not see why it would be any different for the state student division
as well.

Warm regards,
Elizabeth

Fred,

Perhaps the question should be that if the event is to follow the NFBMi
policies , it would be helpful to have the purpose and plan approved by the
president. After all, if a division goes outside the perimeters and causes
a problem for our public image or violates the charter, then who has to
answer for it. I cntend that it would be the affiliate president in the
end.

Dave
