Are You Ready for the Adventure That is "LIFE" (Learning Independence,
Feeling Empowered)?

 

Do you want to participate in a real life work experience?

 

Do you want to increase your confidence using the alternative skills of
successful blind people?

 

Do you want to spend the summer living independently while meeting blind and
low vision high school aged peers and positive adult role models?

 

Do you want to engage in summer adventures and fitness and recreational
activities such as a high ropes adventure course, formal dinner/dance, rock
climbing, automotive care, movies, grilling, hiking, a Richmond Flying
Squirrels baseball game, whitewater rafting, swimming, and more?

 

Are you ready to transform your summer by Living Independently and Feeling
Empowered?  Then check out the LIFE 2016 program at the Virginia
Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired in Richmond, VA!!!

 

LIFE 2016:

 

.        is a 5 week residential training program for high school-aged blind
and vision impaired youth.

.        Provides basic training in the skills of blindness. 

.        Helps students become responsible for their lives.

.        Provides students with opportunities to explore employment and
college goals.

.        Provides an opportunity to gain real world work experience or
additional skills of blindness training.

.        Affords opportunities to participate in physical fitness and
confidence building activities.

.        Helps students develop positive attitudes about blindness.

.        Have LOTS of fun!

 

The LIFE 2016 program runs from July 10, 2016, through August 12, 2016, and
is free for qualifying participants.  Hurry and apply while space is
available!  The application deadline is June 6, 2016, or until the program
is full.
