Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired

2016 Family and Friends Day

Calling all blind and vision impaired teens, parents of blind teenagers, and
professionals in the field of blindness! The Virginia Rehabilitation Center
for the Blind and Vision Impaired invites you to join us for an action
packed day of fun and learning.

Teens, if you've ever wondered how you could play sports as a blind person,
take public transportation to meet your friends at the mall, make more in
the kitchen than microwave popcorn, get a part-time job, plan for college,
and use the latest access technology to do your work faster, then join us at
VRCBVI.

Parents, if you have questions about blindness and vision impairment this is
the place for you! At Family and Friends day you'll have the opportunity to
network with other parents of blind and VI teens, meet successful blind
adults who work in different fields, learn strategies for helping your
teenager plan ahead for the future, and so much more!

Teachers, VR Counselors, and other blindness professionals: learn tips and
tricks to help you better meet the needs of your blind students. Spend the
day with successful blind adults and hear about the skills they used to get
them to where they are today. Spend time networking with other
professionals in your field.

Please join us for a day of discussions, panel sessions, and hands on
learning. Lunch will be available for just $4.00 per person (no charge for
children under the age of 5).

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
