[NFBV-Announce] Opportunity - Web Development Training for Screen Reader Users

Hello everyone,

Below is an opportunity that some of you may be interested in. The training is being done by Chancey Fleet, an active member of the New York affiliate. 


>> Dear Community Member,

>> This is a call for both students and volunteers to attend a Web Development Workshop and Study for screen reader users interested in learning how to create websites! The workshop will be held between 2:30pm and 5pm, on Saturdays between August 22nd and October 10th (8 sessions in total). All sessions will be held remotely, using Zoom.

>> Students: 
>> Prior to starting, you will be asked to complete a survey to help us improve the course. During the workshop, you will be asked to complete unit quizzes, and a follow up survey on the final day. Once complete, we will be reaching out by email to invite you to a 1-on-1 interview about your experience in the workshop. All activities are completely voluntary.

>> Volunteer Assistants: 
>> Prior to starting, you will be asked to complete a survey and meet with the instructor and go over strategies to assist students. During the workshop, you will be asked to partner with a student to assist them in building a basic website in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. After the workshop concludes, you will be asked to complete a survey about your experience. All activities are completely voluntary.

>> Session 1: Intro to the web (websites, browsers and the net), web languages, file structure, text editor and other software to be used.
>> Session 2: HTML and build a basic site
>> Session 3: HTML refresher and Intro to CSS
>> Session 4: CSS
>> Session 5: CSS refresher and Intro to JavaScript
>> Session 6: JavaScript Continued
>> Session 7: JavaScript and uploading a site to a server
>> Session 8: Project Development (Work on websites)
