We were pleased to have our 6th Congressional Representative Emily Randall at a special meeting of our Clallam County Chapter yesterday July 28. Rep Randall is a very friendly and casual person. She listened to our issues with an attentive and interested attitude. We were particularly pleased that she came to Sequim clear from Bremerton to meet with us. She was scheduled to meet with us for a half hour but stayed for forty-five minutes. She was particularly interested in our newly submitted bill HR 447, Transformation to Competitive and Integrated Employment, subminimum wage elimination. Rep Randall was particularly instrumental in eliminating subminimum wages in Washington State when she was in the state Senate. She worked closely with Marci Carpenter and the NFBW. This meeting shows how important it is to have a personal relationship with our representatives, Federal and State. Many times, you need to be persistent to get to the right person to set something like this up. It took me 3 months with emails and phone calls.
