Good morning and good afternoon my name is Juan Carlos gil I am not a power user but I have used a power chair in the past I feel the companies to give the option to have attendant control in some cases it’s great but in some cases is dangerous and I say that with our earnest because of the fact that your site and your position in your chair is your position when there is an attendant above your eyesight pushing your chair somebody that might be a CNA or a LPN or just a friend that has had really know how many hours of training using a joystick due to the fact that each chair has its own specific characteristics when it has been made it takes a wheelchair user sometimes two minutes sometimes five hours sometimes two months to get a handle of their own wheelchair not giving that control up to an attendant that is a scary proposition nonetheless it is easy but there is lots of risks involved and at the same time sometimes companies for the liability when they know that there is a secondary joystick involved they might not except liability due to the fact that it’s not the wheelchair owner that is moving the wheelchair but it’s moved by an adnetnedet

I’m very much aware that the Nfb policy as well as the Owen M policy is to be as independent as possible and I am so happy for that but me as the wheelchair visually impaired user once I give my independence up to an attendant I lose control and I don’t know what’s happening that’s why I feel in our earnest except if I have dexterity problems with my hands and I’m not strong enough that’s why I feel that if you were able to push in a manual chair in you have dicks 30 problems or you are not strong enough fine being a power chair but if you could be in a manual chair or in a manual type of wheelchair using power wheels I were up for that 100% more than a power chair due to the fact that you would know constantly what is happening in your in full control and as a visually impaired user you do lose your ability to know your surroundings using a power chair instead of a manual chair
