It is very much a know your kid situation.

Hank went last summer when he was 11 (almost 12) and had finished 5th grade. It was his first time at any kind of camp. He was DREADFULLY home sick the first 3-4 days. Broke my heart and if LA had been in driving distance I might just have gone to get him. I'm not a particularly clingy mom either.

The good news is after those first few days he was perfectly fine and had a fabulous time. When I went down to pick him up, one of the first things he asked was "Can I come back next year?" I've already filled out his application for this summer.

We highly recommend them! Feel free to contact me if you'd like to hear about my family's experience and/or read this article, "The Summer of Independence":
