[blindlaw] alimony in Alabama

In the state of Alabama, is there any certain amount of time for two people to be married before they can petition for alimony? A friend of mine has a daughter-in-law who was told by an attorney that she and her husband hadn't been married long enough in order for her to ask for alimony. (They'll be married five years in August.)
I told my friend that I have no knowledge whether any state has restrictions on the ability to receive alimony.
