Really? Interesting. i'm at a fairly nondescript Midwestern university,
and you'd get run out of the Math department here if you weren't at
least familiar with the LaTeX basics.. The academic world of math and
science really does seem to use it extensively, which is why I found it
the most worthwhile medium for communicating mathematical notation.
Sorry, I know that doesn't help much. I'm just surprised your teachers
aren't all about working in LaTex.
