Dear Amanda,

Thanks for asking this question. This device is a tactile input device. Say a drawing device for the visually challenged people. The device lets users to themselves draw a shape into a standard application such as word, excel, PowerPoint or Visio.

By shape I mean all the standard shapes that a sighted user can draw. It is indeed difficult to draw these shapes in the said applications with the help of a screen reader even today. Hence this device was made. This device will take all necessary details from you in the form of tactile keys and draw the shape into desired application without the need of opening that application. Also the user here need not be required to be too knowledgeable about Cartesian co ordinate system or geometry.

Meaning that if one were to draw a triangle (right angled), on the device has a triangle shape symbol displayed in 3d so that the user may himself feel, then the user shall use the tactile control panel to enter the vertices. And that's it the shape shall automatically be drawn into a word file after which the user can copy paste the shape any where he wants.

This input device is a subset of the tactile display which further helps the user in comprehending the diagrams shapes in a tactile way. It can also directly show the existing shapes if any in your word or excel files on the tactile display. There is some small amount of work left before I can share more details about the tactile display on the list.

How the device works can be explained in detail if in case required by any one on their personal emails.

Members may correct me If I am wrong. Similarly there are flow chart objects like decision or any other process which can not be inserted in a word file. So in svg draw program there are no ways of creating these other polygons or shapes that you are referring to like the triangle easily, I mean if you know your co ordinate system may be then you can draw a few shapes but I think one has to be an expert in geometries to use svg draw to draw a shape other than one which is provided.
