Amanda,

The picture of the device looks like a smart phone or a tablet computer
running an application. However, the description that was given in the
email message indicates that it is probably a custom physical device, or at
least some kind of a device that has a tactile surface instead of a screen.

The rectangular working area (screen) is roughly divided into two halves.
The left half is mostly occupied by a rectangular grid of dots. There are
perhaps 20 dots on the vertical and 40 dots on the horizontal. They may
actually be popup pins like in your usb Braille device, or they may simply
be pictures of dots.

The right half of the screen contains an array of buttons or pictures of
buttons. This area is divided vertically into three sub-areas.

The top sub-area contains three rows of buttons having different shapes. It
looks like the top row contains a rectangle, a square, a circle, a line,
and a triangle.

The shapes on the second row are a little hard to make out. It looks like
they may be 2D projections of a couple of boxes 3D boxes with different
dimensions, a couple of pyramids with different dimensions, and a sphere.

I can't make out the shapes in the third row. One looks a little like the
symbol for a bar graph, so they may all represent graphs.

The next sub area going down is divided into two areas. The left area
contains two rows of five round buttons. I can't be sure, but I suspect
they are simply the buttons on a numeric keypad. To the right of that are
four buttons with arrows on the face.

All of the buttons described so far are blue-green in color.

The bottom row of five buttons is red. Going from left to right, they look
like a rectangle, an up-arrow, a down-arrow, another rectangle that is
wider and shorter than the first, and a left-arrow that may have a hook on
the right end.

Many of the buttons appear to have some text printed below the button, but
it isn't legible in the picture.

Parentheses appear to be drawn on the ends of the rows of buttons. These
parentheses appear on the first, second, third, and sixth rows of buttons.
The fourth and fifth rows of buttons are grouped in a single pair of
parentheses.

There is something along the bottom of the screen that looks like the
space bar on a standard keyboard, but it may just be a picture. About
one-third of the way from the left end, there are four parallel diagonal
lines drawn on the bar with the top of each line closer to the left end of
the bar. The line on the left is dark blue. The line on the right is red.
The two lines in the middle are light blue.

There is some text in the upper and lower corners of the screen that looks
like it may simply be a labels but I can't read it.

I was unable to find anything on the website that explains how the device
works or how the user actually uses it.

The website also list several other devices for blind and VI users.
