I just discovered that there is a link on the main page of the International
Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI) that allows
one to download a PDF copy of the very excellent book "Mathematics Made Easy
for Children with Visual Impairment." The title is a bit misleading as the
math covered includes high school level math. The book's authors are from
India, Thailand, and the United States.
This book is aimed primarily for teachers and introduces the Nemeth braille
code for math and also has more than 30 instructional strategies for
teaching visually impaired students math topics from numbers and percentage
to logarithms and probability.
The PDF file may not be completely accessible. However, it is such a
wonderful book that I would recommend it not only to sighted parents and
teachers but also to braille readers.
