Maybe I am wrong, but that sounds like something they would say to pacify you. It doesn't sound like doing that would work. I think that your best bet would be to either get the math department to transfer you to a class that doesn't use my math lab, which they should do considering the circumstances or work something out with your professor to do different assignments or get a reader.
