Hello Ray and listers,

Firstly I didn't realize it was you asking the question. If sighted people 
can go barefoot blind persons who feel so inclined to do so should do the 
same. Have fun bare footing!

Well, Jesica, it's like this.  I just asked the question as to whether or
not the blind should go barefooted.  Jeff decided to be childish and tell us
that we are all stupid to even contemplate going barefooted; even in the
comfort of our own homes.  He then proceeded to tell us about all kinds of
horrible things that happened to people.  Gary Wonder then made what I
reckon is one of the best defenses of going barefooted I have ever seen.  He
put Jeff in his place too.  You see, Jeff is assuming that we are all stupid
and that he has all the answers and if only we would just follow his
prescription for life, well, we would never even let the soles of our bare
feet touch the floor; we would never even get out of our comfy cozy little
blindie worlds because it's much to dangerous out there for us poor delicate
pitiful things all delicate like we are; and, don't yuh know, we'd break at
the slightest touch...oops, I think I just shattered my finger typing on the
keyboard...outch!!!

Hello All,
My name is Jessica.  I am 25, and joined this list a few months back, but am
not sure if I introduced my self.  I have been reading some, but not all
posts.

Maybe I missed something, but where did all this bashing between Jeff and
the list  come from?  I should state that while I my self am lucky to have a
good job as a federal employee, the key word in that sentence is lucky.  We
all know the discrimination that the blind face when trying to get a job.
The stats for unemployment have been around 70% for years now, and we are
now in a devastating economy.  What does insulting one and other do??  Are
there people out there who just live off the system?  Of course.  I my self
have never received SSI or SSDI, I admit I have even been guilty of judging
some for doing so, but instead of slamming those who are why not try and
help them network to try and find a job.  This is all common sense, I could
go on, but we are all adults.  Last thing I will say, remember while you sit
there and type on your computers alone in your house, what you right goes
into an archive that anyone can read.
