I would recommend that you read the book by Dr Jernigan walking alone marching together.

ACB was a break off from the NFB in the late 60s early 70s. I wasn't with the NFB then.

There was in fighting and the ACB was formed.

The older generations keep influencing the younger about issue

Example HR 3086 was announced at there convention in 2012 but they didn't pass the resolution it because there national president said it is an NFB issue and not there's.

This is a very good question. In my experience, the NFB is more proactive.
My understanding, too, is that the ACB is more of a social organization,
leaving main decisions to their board members rather than the membership.
In some states both organizations work amicably together, but am not sure if
this is true in all states. In our state of Idaho, the NFB is predominant.

Anyone on list, please correct my perceptions if necessary.

Year ago, the reason my choice was for the NFB is that I saw independent
proactive people, was impressed with the literature and leadership. When I
learned of the rich history of blind people as a minority, I realized how
much I'd taken for granted, and want to give back what I can to the
organization in any way I can.
