I just received another message from Kmart. It is posted below and then

Thanks for reaching out to us, Charlotte. We would like to let you know 
that we truly regret to hear you had this experience, and we very much 
do care about our members. Can you please clarify if you made a purchase 
upon your visit at our store?

Now why in the bloody bleepity bleepity bleep does it matter if I made a 
purchase?! This was my response.
Yes, I did make a purchase of several items. I planned on purchasing 
more, but upon being publicly berated, I immediately checked out and did 
not buy more. Not only did you lose money, but I lost as well as there 
were more items on sale that I wished to purchase. My husband has also 
cancelled his Sears card because of the lack of response.

I will keep you posted if there are more updates.
