[BlindTlk] Does anyone have experience with bulb bus stops?

Yes, I did reply about those in an earlier e-mail. They are more like a bow of the curb edge that is about six feet out from the sidewalk at its widest point. The bow altogether is about 40 feet long.
Bus drivers like them because they don't have to pull out of the lane to board or deboard passengers. Bus clipping incidents have gone down in Everett by quite a bit. Car drivers are already complaining because the bus blocks their lane of traffic when boarding or deboarding passengers.
I expressed that in time, my fear is that city councils will get enough complaints from city residents that they may come up with something like floating bus stops to supposedly make everyone happy, which would mean death to bus travel for blind persons as we know it, as there would be no way of finding the bus stop, let alone saafely crossing to it.

Sounds really interesting Judy. I wonder if they are going to incorporate something like that when they do our bus rapid transit here in Madison. Admittedly and sadly I never got to the final presentation. I have contacts though and I could find out more. Looking forward to your report on these new fangled things.
Going to be an interesting winter… 5 inches of snow for Halloween. This is a trick or treat to Wisconsin?
