[BlindTlk] Effective way of fixing something using glue

Hi, Tom,
It really depends on what you are actually trying to do. When using glue, I
like to try for the thicker type like Goop that isn't so runny, but it isn't
appropriate for all textiles.
When using Elmers-type glue, think of it as putting mayo on a sandwich,
enough to do the job, but not put on thick. You can spread with your finger
tip from the center outward. Have a paper towel handy so you can wiper your
fingers off right away, plus any access glue, once you put the item in
place.
I have also used glue dots for smaller projects.
Another thing I have used, not meant for gluing things, but works very well,
is a thermo-web tape with peel-off strip, like dymo tape. It comes in a
roll, about a half inch thick. You cut the desired length or piece. Peel
of a tiny bit on one end of the strip, position how you need it, then peel
back the rest of the backing and smooth down. Do the same on the top side,
gradually peeling the backing and smoothing in place. I've used it on
hemming jeans, signage, the backs of magnets, so many things I can't think
of offhand. Here is the link to purchase it on Amazon.

Subject: [BlindTlk] Effective way of fixing something using glue
Hi,
Being totally blind, I haven't had many opportunities to do anything like
this, so sorry about asking.
I need to fix something minor I have (a decoration) which is best done by
simply gluing two sections back together, and I was advised to use some
regular Elmer's glue which would be a way of making sure things stick. Not
super glue.
I was told to put plenty of glue on one part and make sure and cover the
entire surface with it before attaching the other part. I was also told to
use a few beads, but what does that mean?
I have a small bottle of the Elmer's white glue that I can use.
A sighted friend told me to wait until I can get someone to help me because
glue is messy and I won't really know if everything is covered well or not.
I kind of think this might be a small enough project I can do. I just need
strategies.
What is a bead of glue, and how can I tell? And, what is a good way to coat
a surface with plenty of glue and know how much is on? My sighted friend
said I needed a brush, which I don't have. I'm working with cardboard and
plastic. I suppose now that my sighted friend told me, I am worried about
making a mess.
Any advice?
Tom
