[blparent] Car Seats?

Yes it is safe, and I am sure it is legal, unless your state has some
stricter laws on car seat installation. To me it would not be very
convenient, or cost effective if every car seat installed had to be
inspected by the fire department before you could put a child in it.
That aside, we have used, and will use for our next infant the Greco
SnugRide car seat. It has a base for the car that it is most often
installed in, and it also has the loops on each side to feed a seat belt
through, for baseless installation.
The EvenFlow car infant seats we looked at did not seem to have this
feature, so the base had to be installed in order for the seat to be
installed.
The SnugRide also seems to fit in many different travel systems.

Hmm, it may be safe, but is it legal? I thought you had to have a car seat
inspected by the local fire department. We're going through the same thing,
trying to figure out what to use. I'm sighted, so, obviously, we do have one
car, which we'll have a base in. But my wife travels with different people
all the time, so we're not sure what to do about that.

Anyway, I would hope you would get an answer by email from any company
regarding this.
