[blparent] troubled parent

Nikki, first of all I have a question or 2 for you. Are you the only one who disciplines him? You said you live with your parents and what I am asking, do they also get involved.
Before we get started, you have to make sure all are on the same page. If mom says no, your parents must also say no. Have you ever watched super Nanny, she has tons of really good tips and the first one is when you say no, you have to mean it. If your son cries and throws a tantrum, so be it. the answer is still no. You don't have to spank, you just have to stick to your guns. If you put him on a naughty spot, you pick the spot, and he gets off that spot, you have to return him there again and again. You are the parents and what you say is the law. It is tough being a parent and being the only one is still tougher.
Being a parent is the hardest job in the world. I have fith in you! V

Nikki here and very distressed. Divorced mother of a 5 year old boy. Live with parents, ugh!

I need behavioral modifacations other than spanking. He doesn’t listen well, follow directions, stay focused, and talks when he’s not supposed to.

Wanting to stay away from spanking for punishment. Anyone have any advice for me?
