[blparent] breast pump recommendations please?

	Tammy,
Can you get the specs for the old pump and then compare with the specs of the newer one?
That would give you a good starting point.
As for the pump being used, I'd look at how the milk travels and see if that bothers you. If it does, well, then there's your answer no matter what the specs say.
So basically, get your hands on how exactly each pump works (taking into account older documentation for the older pump) and see what you think.
Also look at th eprice of each and see how that plays in.

Hi,

I’ve heard that as well, and personally I like the ameda pump better for exactly the reasons you stated. I think my main concern was the used verses new pump, and the older verses newer pump. Is it better to get an older pump if it’s never been used, or is it better to use a pump that’s been used if it’s a newer pump? Hope this makes sense.

Tammy

Hi Tammy,

I haven't used the pump yet, but I opted for the Purely Yours Ultra, partly
because it has a closed system. This means that milk cannot come into
contact with the motor at all. This is not the case with the Medela
consumer-grade pumps. I read a review from someone who took her Medela apart
and found mold on the motor, and that clenched it for me. I'm sure this is a
very, very rare issue. But I decided I'd at least try the Ameda, since I
know I will not have that problem. You also don't have to clean the tubing
on the Ameda pump after each use--again, because milk can't enter it.

Having said all that, I'm very interested to hear what others have to say
about these different pumps. I would definitely like to know if others have
tried both and found one to be far superior.

Angie
