[blparent] Sit'n'stroll, one more time

Go buy another carseat or ask the hospital about giving you one. Many do have programs that do this.
The sit&stroll can withstand being ina wreck. It was built to those specs and wouldn't be on the market if it wasn't.

I wouldn't use it for a baby hat can't support his or her neck, the specs may say it can do it, but if you get your hands on it, you'll have your doubts.

I'm curious to know why you think it would be okay for a tiny infant, yet you don't trust it's crash worthiness.
Can you explain why you trust one set of specs but not the other?

Know that you don't have to use the sit&stroll. I got one based on this list, and convinced myself to like it.
It's a bear to get the cover off when you need to clean it. It's heavy in that to convert it between modes, you're lifting it off the ground with your child in it.

It's expensive.

I found it far easier to use a standard carseat that I'd leave at a desk (all places have humans that assist patrons) and come back and retrieve the carseat when I was ready to leave.

Lastly, be very careful using the carseat your friend gave you. You can't prove it wasnever in a wreck. Insurance will check on that should you ever file a claim.

Honestly, you and hubby could buy two carseats for the price of the sit&stroll. You want convertible carseats, ones that do have the proper neck support for a tiny baby but that are specced for an older child as well.

Subject: [blparent] Sit'n'stroll, one more time

Ok guys, I'm so sorry, because I know I've emailed on this topic a
couple of times. I am really concerned about safety and am looking
for anyone who has been in a similar situation or could answer my
questions.

Background: I am blind, but my husband is sighted. Originally, we
had planned to use the Sit'n'stroll as our permanent stroller, but
only use it as a car seat for when I was with others or using public
transportation. A friend gave us a car seat that we planned to use
permanently in the car.

Well, we bought the Sit'n'Stroll. Turns out, the gift car seat is for
babies 20-80 lbs. Now all we have to take the baby home from the
hospital and use up to 20 lbs is the Sit'n'stroll.

My first question is, has anyone ever used it to take their baby home
from the hospital? I have been told that hospitals won't allow a baby
to go home in that car seat, because it isn't a carrier one. Others
have said the carrier seat isn't required, but there is no neck
support so it wouldn't be good for a baby who can't hold his head up
and therefore the hospital won't let you take him home in it. My
thought is, if it were made for a baby 5-40 lbs, wouldn't it be able
to serve this purpose?

My other concerns are from reviews I just read on Amazon from many,
many parents. The positive reviews all talk about travel, but that it
isn't good for permanent use. One reason they sight is how difficult
it is to install. Others say it isn't sturdy and wouldn't hold up in
a car accident.

So, like I said, I'm really concerned, and spending more money on
another car seat is not easy for us, but if I have to I will. Can
anyone shed some light on my concerns/questions?

Thanks so much,
Heather
