Why don't you pack a box of stuff up for her and have it shipped there ahead
of time? You couldship it home when you're done with the trip. If you put
some braille books in it, youcould possibly even ship it "free matter for
the blind."
Ideas I've used for Elise are:
Wikki Stix
Coloring books, paper, activity books, etc.
Stickers and reusable sticker books
Markers/crayons
Books or children's magazines
Little toys like Squinkies, tiny dolls, etc.
Glow sticks
Magnetic boards that you can put magnets, shapes, or letters on
Magnetic play sets
Music and audio books
Portable DVD player
Little travel games(Hungry Hungry Hippos, little hand-held electronic games,
etc.)
Finger puppets
Magnetic puzzles
Flashlights
Magnifying glasses
Kid cameras
Binoculars

I would also recommend hiding the toys you plan to bring on the plane for
several days before the trip. That way, when she sees them again, they'll be
just like new :).

Subject: [blparent] Traveling with a Preschooler

I just found out Gerald and I will be flying with the kids to another state
over the Thanksgiving weekend. Gerald and his sister will be helping to
pack up their parents’ home because their mom and dad will be moving into an
assisted living place next month. So my question is, do any of you have
ideas on how I can keep Sarah entertained and out from underfoot for five
days and five nights away from home? I can’t pack a lot of toys and stuff
because of the luggage limitations on the airline flights.

Thanks,
Jo Elizabeth

Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may
kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at
evening.--Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
