Hello,
I have various sets of letter magnets and I have my son spell out words for me, simple ones like his name or cat, on the refrigerator so I can feel whether not he is right. We also go over his letters by putting them in order on the refrigerator, and we have alphabet and number puzzles which I can also feel. If you know print letters and numbers yourself this can be very helpful. He does also go to daycare, so of course they are also working on it with him there. Unfortunately I cannot see the pages that he brings home where he tries to trace the letters, but I asked the teachers from time to time how he’s doing. We also have a matching game with puzzle pieces that are letters and pictures. The letter fits to the picture of an object that starts with that letter. Because they are actually puzzle pieces only the correct letter will fit with the correct picture, so if it is wrong I will know because they won’t fit together. He tells me what the pictures are and then together we try to decide if he knows what letter starts with or if I have to tell him which letter to find. I know if he has found the correct letter because the pieces will either fit together or not. Sometimes I will grab one of the magnets off the refrigerator to show him which letter he needs to look for. I am also able to write in print even though I cannot see what I am writing. I have to write fairly big, and I don’t do it overly quickly, but it works well enough for the purposes of me writing a letter or a short word and having him tell me what I wrote.
