[blParent] measuring liquid medicine

Hi,
I am a totally blind father of a 1-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl. Wondering if anyone has any tips for measuring liquid medicine. Thus far I have mostly passed the buck on this one to my sighted wife, but there are times when it would be good for me to do this on my own. I have considered trying to do it by approximating how far out to pull the medicine dropper based on my fingers. Any tips?
