The new Civic Center Station opened for use on 17 December 2017. Commuters began using the facility on 18 December 2017. For those of you who use Civic Center, this shall be no surprise since you discovered it already. THERE ARE NO BRAILLE SIGNS OUTSIDE! There are Braille signs inside Civic Center although half of them are wrong. Gate 1 is correct, Gate 2 is labeled in Braille as Gate 3; Gate 3 is labeled in Braille as Gate 2, and Gate 4 is correct.

I publicly spoke yesterday at the RTD Board Meeting concerning this rather troubling issue. The NFBCO is working with RTD to immediately correct this situation. Until then, here is a brief description:

Gates 1 and 4 are inside the Station. The restrooms are to the far left as you enter the station.

Gates 5 and 6 are for west bound buses. These gates are outside and have “some” shelter from the elements. They are next to the loop for the Mall buses. Gate 5 is closest to the opening where buses come out of Civic Center. Gate 6 is closest to Broadway.

Gates 7 through 9 are for routes heading north. These three gates have little shelter from the elements. The Free MetroRide goes to Gate 7.

The Free MallRide stops and loops in the same place as the old Civic Center design.

The gate assignment are (these may be subject to change):
Gate 1 — 87L, 116X
Gate 2 — CV/CS/CX, ES/EV/EX
Gate 3 — P
Gate 4 — 16L, RX
Gate 5 — 3L, 83D, 83L
Gate 6 — 0L, 100L
Gate 7 — Free MetroRide
Gate 8 — 90L, FF4
Gate 9 — 122X

We will keep you informed once all the Braille is correctly in place.
