Hi Everyone,
My favorite service project is where I am giving information, working with a team and/or showing the true capabilities of the blind in a public event.
One day projects are good when it is being part of a team in a public event.
I recently volunteered at a religious institution where they were gathering clothes and other household items for distribution to the poor. I sorted out the stuff which was dumped on my table.
The next service project is on April 25, at the University of MD in the adaptive technology lab. It is an all-day event, where I talk to visitors about Braille and assistive technology. It is also a full day event.

Hi all,
in general I like projects that allow me to do stuff I don’t get to do every day.
The stuff that gets my hands dirty and gets me directly involved with the issue makes me feel like I’ve actually done something to improve my community.
I I can be painting or moving plants or building something and all of these things make me feel just as good.

Hi all,

I just saw on Twitter that for National Volunteer Week, HandsOn Network is hosting the Service Project Playoffs, where people can vote for their favorite one-day service project. I’ve included the link below if anyone is interested in voting.

Also feel free to reply to this message and share your favorite types of service projects and why their your favorite. The HandsOn Network poll provides a good list for reference, but also feel free to include something they didn’t mention. I’d have to say that my favorite type of service project would either be volunteering at an animal shelter or gardening. I love working with animals, and I also really enjoy being outside and doing the hands-on work involved in gardening.

Here’s the link to the HandsOn Network poll: http://www.handsonnetwork.org/serviceplayoffs
