[Ct-nfb] How much can we do?

I'm sure the woman is alright, I think sometimes people read more in to things then they really are, some people are natural slobs, that's just the way it is. Unfortunately because a person is blind and sloppy people tend to over act. However there maybe a problem, but until the woman asks for our help there's nothing we can do. However I'll see what I can do to help in the back ground. I want to tthank everyone for their suggestions and help.

i know a little bit about her. she spoke at my low vision support group a few years ago & i thought she was ok in all respects. i guess i was wrong. just because you are a professional doesn't mean you know waht's going on in your home.

Hi, Eileen,

I totally agree that the Health Department should become involved.  There's contamination here and I can't believe that this woman thinks everything is okay.  I know it was brought out that she is a professional, but if she thinks everything is all right, she's sadly mistaken.  She's either in a deep state of denial or there has to be something psychiatrically going on here.

I hope she can get the proper help.

we wnt thru this before. i think you made the right call in telling the housekeeper to call the police & have them get rid of her unwanterd guests. as for her rugs, the health dept. should be called. what is her age? if she is older, she is risistant to help. you gave the good advice in letting besb get involved. need any more help, call me.
by the wAY,i'll tell you sometime about my meltdown at a cashier in walmart.

Good afternoon all;

Although I sort of know the answer to this one, I have to ask. This afternoon I received a phone call from a woman who's a house keeper for a blind woman who lives in CT she was concerned about the woman's welfare, there are several interesting things going on in this woman's life, none are good. First place she's a blind professional who has a dog, however according to this woman, the dog may not be treated properly it's not being handled correctly, and maybe under fed. Secondly this woman has two squatters living in her home. Both women who she's represented, and now she can't get rid of them.

The house keeper has also told me that in the past the dogs have gotten sick on her rugs, messed on them. So the rugs need to be cleaned or replaced however the woman refuses to do that. The Blind woman is under the impression that everything is alright, and she doesn't seem to want help from anyone. I recommended that the house keeper contact legal authorities because quite frankly I'm not sure what if anything I or the NFB can do for her, if she doesn't want our help. My question to you folks, is out side of giving her BESB's number and suggesting that perhaps she should call the health dept. is or was there anything else I could've done?

Rich

P.S. I have 17 bags of dog biscuits made for national, I have to admit I cheated and asked my sister to help make them, she actually did all the work. But I say what are sister's for if you can't make them work.
