[Ct-nfb] We Have the Green Light! It's TIME!

Hey everybody,

If we really want to see the end of subminimum wages, we need to meet with our congresswomen and congressmen WHILE THEY ARE HOME IN CONNECTICUT during the August recess.

Been looking for your chance to shine? We really need people to step up here. I am not aware that anyone in the affiliate has been scheduling meetings. I have reached out to my own Congressman, Joe Courtney, about a meeting.

I recognize that people have plans, maybe spend the summer on the Cape, or what have you, but I know that we have at least one member in every district who can do this.

Nobody is too young, too dumb, too newly blind, too sighted, or too anything else to be effective in our cause.

If you need me to guide you through this, I'm happy to do so. You can call me at 860-989-7865.

Thanks so much!

Justin

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me-and there was no one left to speak for me.

Subject: [Ctabs] We Have the Green Light! It's TIME!

Fellow Federationists:

We finally have the green light! The NFB of Connecticut can bring our Democrats onto the TIME Act! For anyone who is new or does not remember, this is the new name of our bill that will end the practice of paying workers with disabilities less than the minimum wage.

Members of Congress will be home in August while the House of Representatives is in recess, and it is crucial that we schedule meetings with them to talk about Transitioning to Integrated and Meaningful Employment. I'm from Joe Courtney's district, so I'll be working on a meeting with him.

Whose district do you live in? Would you be willing to meet with your congressman or congresswoman during the recess?

We need to ask him or her to cosponsor the Transitioning to Integrated and Meaningful Employment (TIME) Act, H.R. 188, which is pending in the House.

The August Recess for the House of Representatives lasts from today until Labor Day, September 7, 2015.

If you would be willing to have such a meeting, whichever district you live in, please call me at 860-989-7865 so that we can coordinate. You don't have to be an expert; you just need to care.

Oh, and, by the way, CNN recently did a story about how SourceAmerica, one of the greedy companies that is fighting us on this bill, is a major scam. Watch the news story at this link:

Together with love, hope, and determination, we can achieve equality, opportunity, and security for the blind.

Yours,

Justin Salisbury
Legislative Coordinator
