State Convention Update

It’s Time to Register!

Job Seminar

Friday Afternoon, November 6th

Noon to 4:00PM

Registration Fee: $5.00

We are planning an informal, interactive, informational seminar about career choices, resume writing, job interviewing, etc. Our presenters will include Ever Lee Hairston, our National Representative and Board Member of the National Federation of the Blind; Dick Davis, Chairman of the NFB Employment Committee and Assistant Director of Employment Programs at BLIND, Inc.; and a Representative of the Louisiana Center for the Blind.

We will start at Noon with a boxed lunch and an opportunity to get to know each other. During the first hour, we will cover changing careers, newly blinded people adjusting their career goals, where to find jobs, etc.

Resume writing, what should be included and not, formatting styles and such will be discussed in our second hour. The third hour will be set aside for interviewing skills, what to say/not say, how to keep things short & simple, what to wear, etc. The last half-hour will be dedicated to one-on-one time with speakers and each other.

Again, this will be an informal and interactive seminar. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, present situations, etc. Plan to come for the afternoon and stay for the weekend!
