[Ct-nfb] The national Federation of the blind, one minute message and pledge

Aloha Esther,

Yes, I am still in Hawaii. I am open to being recruited back to the mainland for the right price. For now, I still have the beach available year-round. We have had a lot of action on state-level legislation. Since I work in the same building as the most prominent subminimum-wage sheltered workshop in Hawaii, I cannot simply go home and forget about what I’ve seen all day. Being involved in politics has been a lot of fun out here. I’m still looking for ways to finish my education, and I continue publishing research and magazine articles about blindness.

Hope to see lots of CT folks in Vegas!

Justin

Hi everyone,
Our affiliate president, Maryanne Melley, has asked that we all learn both the NFB one minute message and NFB pledge. When our National rep comes to our state convention this year, let’s make him or her proud!

National Federation of the Blind One Minute Message: The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams.
The NFB pledge:
I pledge to participate actively in the effort of the National Federation of the Blind to achieve equality, opportunity, and security for the blind; to support the policies and programs of the Federation; and to abide by its constitution.
Sincerely,
 Deb Reed, President
