  CT LAB News New Email Address for CT LAB Please take a moment to update
your address book with our new email address, csl.AccessibleBooks at ct.gov.

requests.      *CT LAB Book Club* The next CT LAB book club will meet
virtually on April 19, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  We have selected 2
titles for the April book club meeting.  They are The Elephant Whisperer:
My Life with the Herd in the African Wild by Lawrence Anthony DB85906 and
All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot DB53926. Both titles are
available on Talking Book Cartridge or through BARD.  Please register for
the book club by calling Paula McLean at (860) 704-2216 or (800) 842-4516.
Participants will receive the Zoom meeting link or dial in phone number for
the book club meeting following registration.  *Digital Talking Book Player
Batteries* If you are experiencing any problems related to the battery in
your Digital Talking Book Player, please contact us at (860) 704-2220 or
(800) 842-4516.  We will be happy to work with you to replace the player’s
battery or, if necessary, the machine.
  *National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS)
Updates* *New
NLS Spanish-Language Website* The National Library Service has
launched a *Spanish-language
website

to help connect Spanish speakers to a large and growing collection of
Spanish books and magazines. Readers with low vision or blindness, or a
disability that prevents them from using regular print materials can find
information about NLS, apply for service, as well as find various resources
and library materials in Spanish.
Upcoming NLS Programs March 2023 The Many Faces of BARD Program The topic
for the March 9, 2023, program will be BARD on the Braille eReader. The
program will begin at 7:00 p.m. eastern time and last for one hour. This
program will be recorded.  The session will begin with a discussion of BARD
on both models of Braille eReader distributed by NLS. The remainder of the
time will be spent answering questions about the presentation or other
questions related to BARD usage on any of our devices.

March 2023 Patron Corner Program On Monday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m. EST, the
NLS Patron Engagement Section will host the next quarterly Patron Corner.
The topic is Locally Produced Books – Building a Collection That Is
Personal to You. The guest panel will include representatives from the
Texas, Utah, Missouri, and Washington State libraries. Tamara Rorie, Head
of the Patron Engagement Section, will moderate the panel. The discussion
will cover topics such as how libraries select narrators, how libraries
select books, and what roles patrons can play in this process.  This
program will last 90 minutes.
