[Diabetes-talk] Today...

The symptoms of hypoglycemia are about as individual as the diabetics having the hypos. Ed's article points out the common elements. I've never gone so low as to lose the ability to think and act. But the first symptom for me is a sudden and massive cold sweat all over my body but especially on my head (moisture from the bald spot evaporates nicely!). I also have some difficulty swallowing but can still do it and eat.

I know of one person whose nose goes numb. And nearly everyone gets the shakes. I haven't had many nighttime lows but think I had one once; I dreamed I was part of the crew of a World War II bomber over Europe during the run-in to the target and we ran into a whole mess of German fighters which shot us up pretty badly, shredding some of the bomber's control surfaces, causing the plane to go through a vertical loop and flip on its back. That's when I think I must have had a bit of a low. No headache or tiredness next morning, though.

Mike
