[Diabetes-talk] Lantis More Than Once-A-Day?

Hi, Everett.

Lantus is designed as a basal insulin to be given once every 24 hours.
However, in certain people, it may last only 12 or 18 hours. You and your
doctor will have to determine whether you are one of those individuals for
whom lantus doesn't cover basal needs for the full 24 hours and act
accordingly. Lantus' competitor, detemir (levemir) specifically does not
cover a full day but, rather, 12 hours or 18 hours, depending upon the
individual.
