[Diabetes-talk] Update on Autocode meter

I'm not sure about the details. All I can tell you for sure is that my
pharmacist said, when looking up the Prodigy meter, that the Autocode
was the only listed, according to his information, that Prodigy had
available; he wasn't even aware of any other Prodigy meter. I don't know
what his "information" is, but this is what I was told. He then said he
would ring Prodigy and call me back with any answers. My understanding,
based on what my pharmacist said, was that he rang the 1-800 Prodigy
number and was summarily told the Autocode was the only Prodigy meter
available. Beyond this, I have no other information at the moment.

When my nurse educator checked into another pharmacy, they did in deed
verify they could supply me with a Voice and will promptly ship it to
me.

My pharmacist has always been great, so it wasn't like he was not doing
all in his power. It is odd that one pharmacy doesn't have the ability,
for whatever reason, to have access to the Voice, but another in town
does. I would like to know for sure who my pharmacist spoke with. I will
try ringing him today to find out.

Thank you, Kelly, as well as the rest of the list, once again. This is
probably all just a lapse in communication.

Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter

Does your pharmacist know the name of who they spoke with? Did they
call the Prodigy 1-800 number?

Some of our distributors only carry the Auto Code and may say they don't
carry the Voice, but it would be odd for an actual Prodigy employee to
say we don't have or carry the Voice. Its available and visible on our
website.

It would be great if there's any reason explaining why a Prodigy rep
would say the Voice isn't available. My amazing nurse educator at the
Nebraska Med Center's diabetes clinic has already contacted another
pharmacy, and they are going to send me another Voice.

It's a bit disconcerting, though, that, allegedly, my pharmacist was
told it's not available. My pharmacist is a great guy who I've been
working with for years now, and he knows me and my husband, and is
willing to assist in any way. I know he can only do so much, and if a
company claims a product isn't available, his hands are tied a bit.

Having had three different Prodigy meters, and knowing many blind people
who use the Voice, I would like to know why Prodigy said it isn't
available.

Anyway, it seems like my situation has been resolved, but for the
future, it is important to know if any change has occurred, or will, or
why the Voice isn't available, or if it is, why a Prodigy rep would say
otherwise.

Thanks for all the help from the list. You guys are a terrific asset,
and I will keep you guys updated with my new pump adventures, smile!

Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter

Mike

I will respond shortly. Need to read email chain in its entirety before
I can respond.

I will say the Prodigy Voice is available through all major wholesalers
which sell to pharmacies so it may be that I need to assist your
pharmacist

Perhaps Kelly Massaro-Neil should address this one. There have been some
changes chez prodigy that are, if nothing else, interesting.

I'd like to know who your pharmacist friend talked to at the company.
Because that's a bone-faced lie! Bermn
