[Diabetes-talk] How Often should Type Twos test?

First off, Dotty, Ya got a whole pile of great advice here--Lynn, Cheryl,
Veronica, Mike, ETC. My advice here, is that, type one, two, or whatever,
you should be seeing an endocrinologist. Secondly, I would advise you to
get hooked up with a good Certified Diabetes Educator, (CDE), to help you
stay in check. No matter who is on your team, if you're not getting what
"YOU" feel you need, I encourage you to seriously take a proactive approach.
You usually only need to do this a few times till your team participants get
to know you well. I'm pretty anal about my testing. If I feel the least
bit out-of-the-ordinary: tired, thirsty, and just plain not right, I test,
no matter what I'm doing or where I am. I dashed outside a court hearing
one day to test because I felt strange--my hunch was right. I've tested at
bus stops, on busses, and wherever. There are two things I never leave my
house without: my cane and my meter. If I ever walk out of my house and
forget to get dressed, at least I've got the meter and cane. I carry one
all the time and I have more than one backup. I've got one on the headboard
of my bed and another in my briefcase. There's always also one in my purse
because I don't always haul my briefcase around. I've got it set up with my
doctor that he has prescribed for me to test six times a day if I need. I
simply don't leave the office till i get what I want! I've only had to do
that a couple times. Now he knows better and won't put up a fuss. I think
he'll slide the prescription at me just to be able to run me out because who
likes to be hounded? I take a hunch pretty seriously. After all, they've
been right a time or two. And, Dotty, you'll find you know your body better
than anyone else. I urge you to listen to it my friend. Have a great day!
