[Diabetes-talk] Accessibility questions, help needed

Hi,
We all are not in the same place. Right now I have a good a1c so I have a little more freedom. Since June, 2011 I have lost 48 pounds.
This was with Metformin and much smaller portions. I also try to watch those desserts.
We are not all the same and so someone may be able to lose more weight and have better control. Some is this is just where we are genetically. Stress and other things play a part too.
I have not been this weight since 1986. I am not saying to make anyone feel bad I am saying it to encourage those who think they can't do it.
All I can say is do your best. When I first found out I was a Diabetic, I was a Basket Case. I watched many of my relatives going down hill rapidly because they had horrible control. I mean twelve doughnuts in a day; lots of other desserts, lots and lots of carbs.
I watched a dear friend lose much of her foot because she never checked it.
She then underwent Dialysis and had significant Vision Loss.
We are all in a different place.
Be gentle with yourself. Just try to do your best.
Colleen Roth
