Daniel, it will not wipe out data when you stop and restart a sensor. And
yes, you do need to repeat the two-hour warmup. You are lying to Dexcom and
telling it that you've put in a new sensor, plain and simple. The trickiest
thing about extending the life of a sensor is getting the tape to last that
long. I have a second layer of tape that I put on top of mine which makes it
last. I generally go about 10 days on each sensor. I wonder why the doctor
doesn't want you to change sensors though. Odd to go against Dexcom's
recommendations for a doc, I think.
But it will not erase your data. There will be a two-hour hole of course,
but that's it. And yes, you will need to do the two finger sticks to
calibrate just like a new sensor.
Let us know if you have any more questions.

Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] Dexcom G5 Sensor Question

Good day list,
I have a question in regards to the Dexcom G5 sensor.
My doctor asked me to reset the sensor in order for it to last for a period
of 2 (two) weeks, until my next appointment with them. They said that if I
stop and then start the sensor session, it'd trick the system into thinking
it's working with a new sensor.
Is this statement true? Also, what would happen to the current receiver
readings? As far as calibration's, would I have to do a 2 hour warmup?
(Which might include 2 calibrations.) I'm just worried that if I stop and
start the sensor session the receiver and phone might think it's a new
sensor and therefore, it might wipe out the data to start new sensor
readings.
