My grandmother drank soda in water every night for years and years. Fortunately her kidneys were sturdy. She did die of multiple organ failure, with kidneys leading the way. I know that drinking too much soda can mess with your electrolyte balance.

Drink it mixed in water, and if what you put in one glass tastes too
salty, half the amount you put in that glass and then drink another
glass with the same amount of baking soda.
