Foods higher in carbs will raise glucose levels more. That said, you don't
have to deny yourself foods you like. It's about moderation and portion
control With the pizza example, 2 slices of pizza is the serving size for
anyone, non-diabetics and diabetics alike. If you bolus, take the correct
carb/insulin ratio, or if taking a type 2 oral med, make sure you're eating
the amount of carbs allotted for you at a meal.

Also, probably don't eat carb-heavy meals for every meal or every day, but
this is a good rule for everyone, not just diabetics.

I will say that salads can be very filling. Pack a lettuce salad with super
foods like avacados and olives and if you eat meat, have a protein like
grilled chicken or tuna, and top with an olive oil based dressing, and it
will be much more filling than you realize.

Veggies can be cooked and baked in a varity of ways that provide flavor in
addition to being a great side dish to accompany any meal.

A side dish I make a lot that even my kids like is carrot fries. All you do
is use an oil of your choice like olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, etc.,
and put whatever seasonings you like and mix. Then toss baby carrots in the
oil mixture and bake at 450 F for 30 to 45 minutes. It's super tasty and a
great side dish. I use coconut oil and just do a little sea salt with black
pepper since my kids are little and don't like too many crazy flavors.

Also, something to keep in mind. If you like spicey food, eat something
spicey on a more regular basis, because spicey foods make people feel
fuller. This is why "diet" foods like Weight Watcher frozen dinners tend to
be of the spicey persuasion. It doesn't have to be super, blow-year-head-off
spicey, but just to give it a kick and fill your tummy with flavor. In
particular, Indian, Italian, Asian and Latino spices are great for this.

OK I know I will get yeled at and that is fine.
Don't.
It is good to have salads, but eat real food anyway.
If you want a pizza take it on, just make sure you don't eat the whole pie,
maybe two slices or even three, take on a salad with it to help you a guy
get full.
Take on anything you wish, just in small portions.
I would send anyone to you know where if they decided all I could do is eat
salads.
Life is good keep living.
