Regarding the guide for the charging pad-
For those of you not caring to pay an additional fee for the guide tool for the Tandem Mobi charging pad,
After plugging the charger in,
Make sure the pad lays flat, preferably on a table but I do keep it on my lap at times,
I then wait a few seconds for the pad to warm up which I understand for sighted people, a light will show allowing one to know that the pad is ready) I then hold the pump, facing flat side down but not quite touching the pad, with the infusion tube pointing opposite that of the charging cord(almost but not quite a straight line)
I then hold the pump barely above the charging pad and gently move the pump (ever so lightly) until I feel the connecting vibration and then lay the pump on top of that vibration.
It works every time.
Question: Are most of you doing this or
Are any of the Mobi trainers suggesting that you automatically purchase one of these guide since you are blind?
Just curious.
Second, During the Knowledge Is Sweet seminar, the Mobi Trainer commented that Tandem is not working with any blind group , helping to make their pumps more accessible,
The answer to that, is actually, "Yes."
Suggestions From The accessible Insulin Pump task force team is, and has been, meeting intermittently and corresponding with some of the "higher ups" when possible.
Most of you know the Accessible Insulin Pump task force Chair who wears an Omnipod 5.
Finally, I've been wanting to correct this statement that was made during the seminar but we were muted and I'm sincerely guessing that all the notes/comments could not be read in a timely manner before their presentation ended.
Overall, the seminar was excellent but I just needed to correct that statement.
Mary

I am using the Omnipod 5 with the iOS app. I have been using it in =3D = manual mode because it wasn't yet compatible with the Dexcom G7, =3D = although they're promising that in a couple of weeks. When I switched to = =3D the Omnipod in 2018, I didn't really think having a tubeless pump = would =3D be a big deal, as I'd worn pumps with tubing since 1991. But = now that =3D it's been 7 years, I have really come to lik not having the = tubing. The =3D iOS app is also really accessible. Just like with the = Mobi, there are a =3D few things that land in funny places on the = screen, but it works well. =3D The other thing I like is that you don't = have to use Face ID as many =3D times as you do with the Mobi. That is = the one thing that is driving me =3D crazy with these pumps which are = controlled by smart phone. Some days it =3D really makes me feel like = diabetes runs my life because I wouldn't =3D normally use it. It seems = like it just takes so long to get in, by the =3D time I try several = times, then the phone jumps somewhere else when I'm =3D trying to enter = the pass code, etc. With the Omnipod, you have to use =3D Face ID to get = into the app, but not during any processes. I'm looking =3D forward to = switching to automated mode in a couple of weeks. I think =3D it's = fantastic that we actually have choices now.=3D20 Veronica

Thanks! It is a challenge getting it to be in just the right place.
BTW, I switched from the Omnipod to the Mobi a month ago and really like = =3D =3D3D it. My educator showed it to me and asked me to consider it = since she =3D =3D3D really likes its algorithm much better. Tandem has = done an amazing job =3D =3D3D making it totally accessible for us. =

FYI,
I received today from Byram Healthcare part of my order of Mobi insulin = =3D =3D3D pump=3D3D3D supplies and found a surprise package included. = It is a thin =3D =3D3D plastic device=3D3D3D that snaps on over the = wireless charging pad and =3D has =3D3D an indentation which h=3D3D3D = elps center the pump in the correct location =3D =3D3D for charging And = helps keep it f=3D3D3D rom sliding. This device will be =3D =3D3D = particularly helpful to people who are blin=3D3D3D d or have low vision. = I =3D =3D3D am assuming because I did not know that it was avail=3D3D3D = able nor did I =3D =3D3D place an order for it from Byram that I will = not be charged f=3D3D3D or =3D it. =3D3D I have not seen any = communications from Tandem that this accessory =3D is=3D3D3D =3D3D now = available but apparently it is.
Patricia.
