Good Morning Again Federationists:

I thought I’d send out the events that Colorado is doing if you’re looking
for something to liven things up during the week. I’ve done a few of the
Friday events, and they’re really well done. If anyone has events or
workshops you think we can do in Iowa, let me know and we’ll get to work on

Hello Everyone!

The NFBCO team is excited to offer another week of exciting Zoom content!

Monday, April 20 5PM Mountain 

My Blindness Monday 

Meet Maureen and hear her story. Blindness and a rare genetic disorder have
not stopped Maureen from being a fantastic mother, finishing her degree, and
serving blind people. 

Tuesday , April 21 5PM Mountain

Make your own hand Sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and sugar scrub

Gather your ingredients and make your own hand sanitizer, disinfectant
wipes, and sugar scrub along with us. Here is what you will need:

Hand sanitizer

3 Parts isopropyl alcohol (you can substitute 140 proof Everclear)
1 Part aloe Vera gel
Essential oil as desired (tea tree, eucalyptus, or lavender have
antibacterial properties)
Container for storage

Instructions:

Mix 3 parts isopropyl alcohol to 1 part aloe vera gel.  Add Tea tree oil or
other essential oil, if desired.

Disinfectant Spray

Ingredients:

12 fluid ounces of isopropyl alcohol
2 teaspoons of glycerol or glycerin, for moister
1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide
3 oz. distilled water (substitute boiled and cooled water)
Few drops of essential oil
Pro tip: consider using oil other than lavender so that your disinfectant
spray stands out :)
Spray bottle

Directions:

Add all to spray bottle. 

Disinfectant wipes
1 roll paper towel,
1 tablespoon bleach

If you do not want to use bleach, use a different disinfectant cleaner, such
as Mr. Clean, Pine-sol, Lysol, but make sure it is a disinfectant.  Vinegar
and baking soda are not disinfectants.

2 Cups water
Serrated edge kitchen knife

Directions:

cut paper towels in half with serrated edge kitchen knife.

Mix 1 tablespoon bleach  to 2 cups water

Place each side of paper towel roll into a air tight container.  If you are
using a tall container, it can be used as a dispenser.  If flat container,
make sure lid is sealed after each use. 

Pull out cardboard center and discard.

Pour water solution over  the paper towels and leave to absorb.

Sugar scrub

1/2 granulated sugar
1/2 Cup coconut oil
10-12 drops essential oil if your choice 
(Peppermint, lemon, orange, lavender, or any of your choice
Some oil blends are
Grapefruit and peppermint
Rose and vanilla
Peach and ginger
Be creative with oils
8 oz jar with lid

Directions:
Melt coconut oil to blend better
Mix all ingredients.

Workout Wednesday

Join us for a quick seven minute body weight only workout. We will learn the
moves, do the workout, and discuss ways modify this workout for your fitness
level. This workout is great for all fitness levels. Wear comfy clothes and
bring your water.

Thursday, April 23, 5PM Mountain 

Travel Thursday

Are you a parent of a blind child teaching your kiddo to use a cane. Maybe
you are blind or low vision and need to learn some basic cane travel
technique. Whether you are a beginner or a well versed traveler with advice
to share,  join NOMC and long time cane travel instructor David Nietfeld as
he introduces  audio travel lessons and shares his expertise.

Philosophy Friday

Join  Us as we put our philosophy to the test with some stimulating and
thought provoking questions. Would you ever let a blind person take care of
your newborn? Would you use a blind person for home repairs? How about
electrical work? Would you let a blind hair dresser cut or color your hair?
We will consider these questions and more. Come prepared to participate.
