Testers needed.
As I mentioned in an earlier post there will be an issue with using Bookshare.org
books on the new NLS players as these players do not support text to
speech or text only Daisy books. The way around this is to generate a
full text/full audio version of the book from the XML file in the
original Bookshare.org file set.
The issue however is that the Bookshare.org XML file is not properly
formed for Daisy Pipeline Narrator script to transform directly. I
have a perl script that will take two arguments, path to the Bookshare.org
XML file and the path and name to the output file and will make the
needed transformations. You can then use this file in the Daisy
Pipeline to build the full text/full audio book.
Transforming the book in this manner in no way changes your legal
obligations to Bookshare or the copyright act. All legal notices are
left in place as are all bookshare watermarks.
I am looking for testers to try this out and see if it works for them.
You will need to have Perl installed on your computer, Mac and Linux
users have this by default Windows users will need to install it. If
you are using a Mac I can provide a Mac application with an accessible
GUI.
Please contact me for more information.
