Hi I have used Open Book Ruby version 8.0 and this has the ability to convert PDF files to text. From there you can either send them to another device such as a note taker, convert them to a word document or save them as an MP3 or WAV file to play on devices such as the Victor Reader Stream, Book Port, Braille Note and Pac mate.

I know Kurzweil 1000 has the same capability.
