Hi All,
Since there has been a lot of discussion about the k-NFB reader app that is about to launch within the blind community and since I have now gotten similar info from two folks from the company regarding this, I thought I would pass the below info on since this is not quite what the ads are announcing about the iPod for those of you that are non-iPhone users. Not certain that I will be purchasing it, given that I am using an iPod rather than an iPhone, but more info never hurts the consumer, right:)!
Have a fabulous weekend,
Chris

Good morning Christine:
Thank you for your message and interest in the KNFB Reader iOS app. At this time, we are currently supporting the following iPhone models.
a..
a.. iPhone 5s
b.. iPhone 5
c.. iPhone 5c
d.. iPHone 4s
a.. The goal is to add more devices to the supported devices list as additional testing is performed and new iOS API’’s become available to allow us better control of the camera module. When the initial app may be installed on any devices running iOS 7 and above. Although it will be possible to install the KNFB Reader app on an iPod touch, the results may vary due to the lack of a flash for the camera. With this being said, you may be able to get functional results in a well-lit environment. If you require additional explanation, please feel free to give me a call at the number below.
Best Regards:

Hello,
First, I have been highly impressed with the demos that I have seen from the K-NFB Reader!
I am suspecting that you have received inquiries regarding this already, but I am an iPod Touch user, and am not currently willing to spend $300-700 to buy an iPhone just for use of one specific app that I believe would be incredibly useful in my work and daily life. Is there any possibility at all that it will work on an iPod Touch and if not, may I get a better understanding of why this is the case? mainly, the reason I am confused as to why it will not work with the iPod Touch 5 is that I have been told that the iPod Touch 5 is essentially the iPhone 5 minus the GPS unit and direct data plan.
As a totally blind full-time professor teaching at a university, this would be incredibly useful to me.
With very kind regards,
Christine
