[Electronics-talk] Wanting to know if anyone has any idea about an android list like the iPhone questions list or knows anything about android phones

I'm using IOS on my IPod Touch, but wouldn't be averse to trying Android.
Is there a way to find out if the apps I like in IOS are also available in
Android?

Sorry, but that's quite an old tip and it wasn't true about all
devices not sold by Google. Current Samsung and LG devices are very
accessible even including more accessibility than the pure Android
experience such as the triple click home button to turn TalkBack on as
well as some very accessible apps of their own. Other manufacturers
are now starting to follow in their footsteps.

There are many totally blind folks using the Sansung Galaxy S5 who
were originally using iOS. From what they've reported, it's very
accessible!

As far as the eyes-free list is concerned, you also need to be
prepared for iOS bashing and being accused of being a troll if you
mention having used iOS or even if someone imagines that you mentioned
iOS. The list is unmoderated and the flames and personal attacks
abound. That along with the high traffic of off topic nonsense makes
it a list that I wouldn't recommend for someone new to Android. It has
turned many new people away from Android. Most of these attacks come
from the quote experts unquote on the list. But if you don't mind the
possibility of being flamed, called a moron, idiot, etc, then by all
means join.

To dispel something else someone mentioned on this thread about the
Samsung Galaxy S5, it was someone who came on the eyes-free list who
was complaining about typing issues they were having on a Samsung Note
4 which was due to having a defective device. Nothing to do with the
Samsugn Galaxy S5 at all.

A much friendlier and moderated list is the vi-android at freelists.org
with a manageable amount of traffic and none of the drama. To join
send a blank email to vi-android-request at freelists.org with the word
subscribe in the subject line.

Take care,

Laz

Here's an accessibility tip for all android devices. If it's not a
google certified device, don't buy it! The google certified devices
also had best not have any software on them from any other provider
other than google to start with since that way all of google
accessibility features will work the way google intended them to work.
When third parties put software on, it will interfere with
accessibility.
